Clubs & Groups

Although we are a small school, we offer a variety of opportunities to develop skills and broaden horizons. Below you’ll find information about some of the academic and extracurricular activities available to the students in our school.

Spell Bowl

We select students based on their spelling ability. Students practice weekly to prepare for a statewide competition in the fall. According to the Oxford University Press, confident spellers are “more likely to make adventurous vocabulary choices, selecting the exact word to communicate their message…” We completely concur—c.o.n.c.u.r.—concur!

Math Bowl

“If I were again beginning my studies, I would follow the advice of Plato and start with mathematics.”—Galileo Galilei

Scipio Elementary selects students based on their mathematical skills. Students practice weekly to prepare for a statewide competition in the spring.

Student Council

Our fifth- and sixth-grade students select their peers (two per classroom) to represent Scipio Elementary. These students organize fundraising activities, assist with kindergarten roundup, and serve as leaders of the school.

Reading Club

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

This club is for fourth- through sixth-grade students. Students read selected novels and then discuss them in monthly meetings.

Fitness Club

Students who participate in our fitness club stay after school to run and participate in other fitness activities.

Archery Club

Students in fourth and fifth grades try out for this club. They compete in different events throughout the year and at state and regional competitions held in the spring.

Scrapbook Club

Students create scrapbooks using their favorite photographs.

Robotics Club

Students build a robot and operate it to complete tasks during competitions throughout the year.

LEGO Club

Students in fourth through sixth grades meet monthly to build a variety of items related to a specific theme from LEGOs.
