Our School
Scipio Elementary is part of the Jennings County School Corporation. We are one of six elementary schools within the district. We are located in the northern part of Jennings County. The original Scipio school stood on the same site and had its first commencement ceremony in 1895. Today, our dedicated staff educate approximately 300 students from kindergarten through sixth grade. Because many of our students are third or fourth generation, we have extraordinary community and family support.

What Makes Us Great?
Our students, of course! And our dedicated staff, supportive community, and vision for the future. We have a comprehensive Scipio Elementary School Improvement Plan that maps out our goals for our students. These goals are based on Scipio Elementary’s and Jennings County School Corporation’s core values. We believe the following:
- An open and positive environment promotes respect, honesty, and trust.
- Lifelong learning encourages creativity, responsibility, and productivity.
- The partnership among schools, families, and the community is essential to the complete educational experience.
- Each person is unique and has value.
- When each person contributes, the individual and community thrive.
- Understanding diversity enhances our lives and community.
- Goal setting and high expectations lead to success.
- Everyone can learn.
As we strive to incorporate our core values and help students meet these goals, we believe we will accomplish our mission.
